He became an educator to ensure that Black and neurodivergent boys would receive the best education possible after he witnessed the curricular and intellectual harms done to his younger brothers in their schools that still impact them today as adults. In 2024, Leroy was a contributing reviewer for the Center for Civic Education's *Project Citizen Level 2* Teacher Manual to engage middle and high school students in civic actions within their communities with a focus on culturally responsive pedagogy.   Since 2024, Leroy has been the lead curriculum reviewer and developer on *Barbershop Books* award-winning reading application *Reading So Lit TM. *This reading application supports the love of reading for students of color, neurodivergent learners, students from economically disadvantaged communities, and multilingual learners. Leroy maintains active membership in several professional organizations.
